RE-TRACING: a 3-part film series

(RE)TRACING is a three-part dance film series by local artists Toree Benson and Nicholas Cooper. The piece focuses on the concepts of isolation, coming together, and recovery amidst a pandemic/post-pandemic world. Throughout the films, you will witness two individuals who are affected by isolation in very distinct ways. You will also see how these two rediscover human connection with one another after being forced apart for a long period of time. We hope this project can illuminate our collective and individual experiences of this pandemic and offer hope as we all find our new 'normal.
Films will be released every other week starting Wednesday, September 1st (1st, 15th and 29th)! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram so you don't miss them!
The first two films will show the unique perspectives of two people who are enduring the pandemic, separately, in isolation. Through distinctive music and choreography, the films will show how isolation affects individuals differently (i.e. one of the individuals becomes extremely internal during isolation while in contrast, the other expels lots of energy.). Both of these films will show the individuals in their private spaces. The third film will be an exploration of how these two people come (back) together physically and emotionally after months of separation.
Thank you to our community partners:
Film 1 was filmed at The Marshall County Historical Society's Glick-Sower Historical Homestead
Film 2 was filmed at M. Gervich & Sons
Film 3 was filmed at Judge Park with music by local musician, Austin Chadderdon
